My love for sports, health and fitness started at the age of four while living in Sweden. I was determined to play on the Swedish Olympic ice hockey team as a goaltender. Two years later,my family and I moved to America. Although my first goal wasn't achieved, I started to pursue other sports: football, basketball, baseball, and lacrosse. At the age of six, I remember being told that eating a healthy diet of vegetables and protein was very important if I was to reach my full potential in sports. I ate as much spinach, carrots, broccoli, chicken and eggs as I could bear. In high school, I played football, basketball and lacrosse, and consistently trained in the weight room to become stronger, bigger, quicker and faster. I continued to play football at the University of Delaware, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. Since then I have acquired several certifications:
American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) - Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C)
National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) - Certified Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES)
National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) - Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES)
National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) - Certified Personal Trainer (CPT)
National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) - Certified Golf Fitness Specialist (GFS)
American Council on Exercise (ACE) - Certified Group Exercise Instructor
EXOS - Certified Performance Specialist (XPS)
Integrated Movement Equals Exercise (IM=X) - Certified Pilates Reformer and Floor
After more than twenty years of experience training clients with a variety of concerns such as overweight and obesity issues, post rehabilitation injuries, the senior population, and young and adult athletes in various sports and positions, I have noticed several aspects of training that are lacking:
1. Specialized, individual instruction
2. Consistent assessments and data collection
3. A systematic, scientific approach to training
These three reasons and my passion for training others is why I created Ironside Fitness & Sports Training.
Yours in health,
Anders
